What is inside

11 pages, one purpose each

  1. p. 1Cover, contents and how to useThe page map, a key to every box type, and the order to read on the last day.
  2. CO-02Instructions, Formats and Addressing ModesHow do I count opcode and field bits, and find the effective address for each mode?
  3. CO-03ALU, Datapath and Control UnitHow do the ALU and datapath carry out an instruction, and how big is a hardwired or microprogrammed control unit?
  4. CO-04Pipelining: Time, Speedup and Stall CPIHow long do n instructions take on a k-stage pipeline, and what speedup survives the stalls?
  5. CO-05Pipeline Hazards and ForwardingWhich dependences stall a pipeline, and how many cycles do forwarding and branch handling save?
  6. CO-06Memory Hierarchy: AMAT, Stalls and InterfacingHow do I compute average access time and memory stall CPI, and build a memory from chips?
  7. CO-07Cache: Address Split, Mapping and PoliciesHow do I split an address into tag, index and offset, count misses, and pick the write policy effect?
  8. CO-08Storage and I/O: Disk, Interrupts and DMAHow do I time a disk access, order an interrupt, and compute DMA rates and CPU loss?
  9. CO-09GATE Traps SheetThe wrong turns that cost marks, each with the rule that fixes it
  10. CO-10Question Patterns and Solving ApproachRecognise the pattern in the stem, then run the matching routine

How each page works

Built for fast revision

  • Quick Recall boxes: the facts to hold in memory
  • Formula boxes with variables, when each applies and the usual mistake
  • Students Think / Actually: the wrong intuition next to the correct rule
  • If You See This / Do This: a cue in the question and the steps to take
  • Compare tables for look-alike concepts
  • Trap boxes: a known wrong turn and its fix
  • Edge cases that change the answer
  • Decision flows to run in order
  • Master tables for quick lookup

About this pack

Scope

Revision pages for Computer Organization and Architecture in the GATE CS 2027 syllabus: instructions, formats and addressing modes, the ALU, datapath and control unit, pipelining time, speedup and stall CPI, hazards and forwarding, memory hierarchy with AMAT and stalls, cache address splits, mapping and policies, and storage and I/O with disks, interrupts and DMA. The numerical topics are laid out as step-by-step frameworks with worked mini-examples. Virtual memory and TLBs are taught in the Operating Systems pack, and fixed and floating point formats in the Digital Logic pack.

Before you buy

Common questions

What exactly will I receive?

A 11-page A4 PDF in two editions: a screen edition for reading on a device and a print edition prepared for A4 printing. Nothing is shipped; it is a download.

Can I read it on my phone, and can I print it?

Yes. The PDF opens in any PDF reader on phones, tablets and computers, and the bookmarks jump between pages. You may print it for your own study.

Is it for GATE 2027?

Yes. The packs follow the official GATE CS 2027 syllabus, and each pack says what is in scope and what is covered in another pack. GATE CS Mastery is independent and not affiliated with IIT, IISc or the GATE organising committee.

How is this different from ordinary short notes?

Each page answers one question and uses labelled boxes: rules with their conditions, traps with the fix, comparison tables and small worked examples. Every pack ends with a traps sheet, a question-patterns sheet and a one-page last-day sheet.

What happens after I pay?

When Razorpay confirms the payment, download buttons appear straight away and a receipt is emailed to you. Later, My library sends a one-time link to your purchase email and shows fresh download links.

What if the payment succeeds but the download fails?

Do not pay again. Your purchase is recorded as soon as the payment is verified. Open My library, or write to support@gatecsmastery.com with your order ID or Razorpay payment ID. See the refund policy for when a refund applies.
